Loma del Gato on the eastern side of Almuñécar and with good weather conditions it offers good thermals for flying.
The mountain ranges of Almuñécar has the take-offs, Loma del Gato, Cerro de Itrabo and Alfamar they are the most used and loved take-off places in Almuñécar.

With enough height it is better to land on the beach called 'Velilla' In the cove from 'La Galera' good landing skills are required. Beginners should only fly with the support of a professional flying guide from here. |

Driving on the main Highway N340 in the direction of Motril after about 3 klms on the right hand side before a sharp curve is a blue hall.
Turn left there is also a sign 'Lomo del Gato' The street is small and leads up to an Observatory, where you can park the car and then walk to the take-off. Which is about another 30 meters higher. It is also possible to drive on the dirt road to the plastic green house and park also. |

The plastic greenhouse is the point of no return and from that level you should fly directly to the landing place. Don't try to gain height at the greenhouse or you might not make it. Around the landing place are cranes, watch out for those.

NEW: Attention: new drive to the start place! Go not in the sign Loma del Gato, because this leads only to the urbanization. Go the highway entrance upwards go up to the second circular flower bed. Here not on the highway, but straight ahead upwards to the Take-Off. |
